Fair Trade in Tourism SA partners with SA Tourism

Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa (FTTSA) has joined forces with South African Tourism (SAT) to promote fair and responsible tourism in a number of European source markets. This joint campaign includes a number of public relations and marketing initiatives, and the development of further Fair Trade Travel packages in collaboration with European tour operators.

Jennifer Seif, FTTSA executive director, visited Paris to meet with SAT and a number of trade and media stakeholders. Activities in France include:

FTTSA hopes for a positive response from the French market, which is a relatively new market for the organisation.

In addition, Katarina Mancama, FTTSA project manager, visited the Netherlands to strengthen the organisation’s already good relationship with SAT Netherlands as well as with the travel trade. Upcoming activities in the Netherlands include:

A number of Dutch tour operators have already expressed interest in developing Fair Trade Travel packages, with a possible launch timed for Vakantiebeurs.

Update from the other markets covered by the joint FTTSA and SAT initiative, which include the UK, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland, are expected shortly.
